Basic Reading And Spelling Skills
Copyright @ 2008 By W Roger Lee
This is not for children who can read. This is for students who are beginning to learn the phonics. The sight-reading program is not used after the phonics have been taught. Rather, the sight-reading program is used while the phonics are being taught. The student pronounces, and writes the words in the daily lesson. Then the student goes to the sight-reading program, and skims the sight-reading program, and identifies the italicized sentence in each word group.

This repetition trains the brain to grasp words in groups. It also trains the brain to comprehend the text, without mentally verbalizing the text. This will prevent the inveterate habit of lip reading or motor reading.

This is the purpose of the program. It simply gives the student practice with comprehension without verbalization, which is in essences, speed reading. The practice is only for a few minutes each day. Yet it is imperative to learning to sight-reading.
